Calculation of bridge detour distance

Return to theme list page

In rural and mountainous areas where the population is already declining, bridges are increasingly being forced to be consolidated or abolished. However, when consolidating or removing bridges, the impact may vary depending on whether there is a detour nearby, a detour far away, or no detour. By calculating and analyzing the presence or absence of detours and the distance to be detoured if a bridge managed by a municipality is removed, we can understand the characteristics of each municipality and use it to consider future maintenance priorities.
