Research Overview
Harsh Hokuriku Environment

Bridges Facing the Sea of Japan
The Hokuriku region (especially Toyama, Ishikawa, and Fukui prefectures) faces the Sea of Japan, and bridges located along the coast are significantly affected by salt carried by seasonal winds.

Application of Anti-freezing Agents
As a snowy and cold region, major arterial roads are treated with anti-freezing agents during the winter season.

Andesite Aggregate in Concrete
This region is known for alkali-silica reaction (ASR) caused mainly by andesite aggregates. Additionally, high-altitude areas in mountainous regions are prone to frost damage.
